10th Youth Dream Presentation Festival in Brazil

On September 30, 2024, at 6:30 PM, the Dream Presentation Festival was successfully concluded in the small chapel of the Oriental Mission Church in Bonghechiro, Hanin, with 17 participating students, their instructors, parents, and about 100 guests gathered.

The Brazilian Youth My Dream Presentation Festival is now in its 10th year and is held annually under the sponsorship of the My Dream International Foundation (Chairman Son Chang-hyun). The event was hosted by Kim Dong-sun, the current president of the Brazilian Korean School Association and successor to Kim Seong-min (former head of the Brazilian branch), who led the event for the past 9 years.

As the designated moderator was unable to attend due to personal reasons, Chairman Kim Dong-sun was unable to participate as a judge and conducted the entire event as moderator.

Starting in June, we announced participation in the event to each Korean language school and the general public, and in early September, we began issuing posters and promoting the event in various places. On September 15, 17 aspiring candidates who passed the first preliminary round were able to speak honestly about their dreams through dream presentations.

Starting with the opening remarks and greetings by Chairman Kim Dong-sun, the participants' tension was greatly relieved by the congratulatory message of encouragement from Chairman Son Chang-hyun saying, "Future your dreams in Brazil," and the encouraging words from Director Shin Il-ju of the Education Center saying, "I praise and support the courage of the participants who are here to dream and make those dreams come true."

We improved the presenter method that had been used so far, and decided not to reveal the school affiliation in the manuscript and presentation content for fairness, and the presentations were made in the order in which the participants drew the order on the day, so that we could have a fair competition with no complaints about the arbitrary order. In addition, the selection of judges who were not related to the school affiliation was also

It gave meaning to fairness.

Judge Kim Seong-min's judging rules (50% of the manuscript content, 30 points for creativity, 20 points for purity)

The first contestant's full-fledged competition began with a score of 400 points out of 100 points per judge, with the presenter's time limit also related to the score (presentation skills are 50%, attitude is 30 points, and emotion is 20 points).

As each presentation was finished, there was endless applause of encouragement, consolation, and praise for all the participants, not just you and me. The moderator summarized the content briefly to help the judges and the audience remember the content.

Beyond anticipation and tension, the fun of the dream presentations was combined, and even though many students participated, they listened without realizing the time passing by. After the last participant finished presenting, the last event reached its climax with a Hanulrim Samulnori performance while waiting for the results.

The results were announced by having all participants come up to the stage and awarding prizes, starting with 11 encouragement prizes (prize money of 200 RS per person), 3 excellence prizes (prize money of 250 RS), 1 3rd place (prize money of 500 RS), 1 2nd place (prize money of 1000 RS), and 1 1st place (prize money of 1500 RS). In particular, the bouquets for this competition were handmade by Branch Manager Kim Dong-sun, which is said to have touched the hearts of the winners and everyone else.

Snacks and gifts were provided to all participants and attendees to reward everyone's hard work late into the night. Before the closing ceremony, the last scholarship award ceremony was held for two donor scholarship recipients, Seo Da-bit ($1,000 per year for 22, 23, and 24 years) and Cha Eun-ah ($1,000 per year for 22, 23, and 24 years), and the event ended with a photo shoot of all the recipients, participants, and teachers.

Branch Manager Kim Dong-sun expressed his gratitude to the director of My Dream International Foundation, Son Chang-hyun, who organized this event, as well as all the sponsors, scholarship donors, teachers, and parents, and concluded the event by promising to continue the event in the future.

The names of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and the titles of their manuscripts are as follows.
