The 9th British <Youth Dream Presentation Festival>, a powerful step toward the future

On Saturday, September 7th at 2pm, the 9th UK Youth Dream Presentation Festival was held successfully at the Korean Cultural Centre UK in London, England.

Hosted by the My Dream International Foundation (Chairman Son Chang-hyun), organized by the Korean Language Schools Association in the UK (Chairman Jeong Gyeong-seon), and sponsored by the Korean Education Centre UK and the Korean Cultural Centre UK, this festival was prepared as a valuable opportunity for 20 students from across the UK to present their dreams and visions for the future and share inspiration with each other.

My Dream International Foundation (founded in 2012), which celebrates its 12th anniversary this year, is promoting the <Youth Dream Presentation Festival> to uncover the jewel-like dreams of all Korean youth around the world, and is supporting their dreams through the <Global Scholarship Program>.

The event's emcee, Park Jeong-hyeon, the director of the UK branch of My Dream International Foundation, created a bright and hopeful atmosphere through her opening remarks, giving great anticipation to both the participants and the audience. In her welcoming remarks, Jeong Gyeong-seon, the president of the Korean Language School Association in the UK, said , "I hope that our youth will find their own identity through their dreams and grow with pride as Koreans on the global stage." She also urged them to present their dreams 'in their own way, in their own way, and beautifully' . In addition, Park On-ryeong, the executive director of My Dream International Foundation, who was the head of the judging panel, encouraged all the participants by saying, "The fact that the participants are standing here today as presenters is itself a demonstration of great courage and passion, and no matter what their dreams are, big or small, those dreams are precious and meaningful." She also said that the judging will focus on how sincerely each participant's presentation is delivered to the audience, whether they make specific plans to achieve their dreams, and whether they clearly and efficiently convey their thoughts. In particular, she emphasized the importance of time management so that they can stick to the given presentation time.

In the presentations for middle and high school students that followed, Nam Yoon-sol and Shin Ji-hwan, who presented on the topic of “Happiness on the Path to Finding Dreams,” and “The Path to Finding My Dream,” respectively, received much support from the audience as they expressed their desire to continue to pursue their dreams with excitement as if they were on a treasure hunt and said that we are all standing at a happy starting line.

The presentations by Eunseong Kang, who dreams of becoming a lawyer who understands and empathizes with others, Jiwon Kang, who wants to create a pharmaceutical company and develop innovative medicines at low prices, Chanyoung Nam, who dreams of becoming a psychology professor who dreams of peace, Yijun Han, who dreams of becoming a pediatrician and wants to create a world worth living in, and Seonah Baek, who wants to help sick children continue to dream with hope, received warm applause as they revealed their aspirations to contribute to solving social problems and creating a better world rather than simply dreaming of personal success. In addition, participants Jiwoo Han, who grew up wanting to become a soccer player after watching Heungmin Son, and Seobin Baek, who dreams of becoming a successful artist, each gave colorful presentations with their own passion for pursuing their dreams.

The Silver Prize went to Hayden Ho, who presented 'My Dream, Entomologist'. Hayden expressed his bold ambition to study and protect endangered insects and make the world we live in a more beautiful place.

The gold medal went to Olivia Page, who presented under the title, “A Person Who Meets Miracles.” Olivia moved the audience by saying that she wanted to become an obstetrician and gynecologist who could share the special emotions of the happy moment of a baby’s birth and see beautiful miracles every day.

The honor went to Esther Gershevsky. Esther, who came on stage with the title of 'Culture Flower Blossoms,' said that she wanted to become a person who helped cultural exchanges between the UK and Korea, and she expressed her dream more vividly by quoting Mr. Kim Gu's words that 'the power of culture can bring happiness not only to oneself but also to others.' Like Esther's last greeting, I hope that one day we can all shout, "The flower of Korean culture has bloomed."

Lastly, Song Min-jun, a student who received the My Dream International Foundation scholarship, sent a video message of thanks and encouraged his juniors not to lose their dreams and courage and to move forward as much as they can. This Dream Presentation Festival was not just a place to present dreams, but a valuable opportunity for students to discover their potential and build confidence, and for adults, it was a meaningful time to once again reflect on the meaning of life through the children's pure dreams. We encourage you to take the first step toward your dreams once again!
